A little about me

I’m not exactly sure what led me to my profession. I never had a time where I thought “This was what I was meant to do.” I am from a large family, I grew up witnessing my mom’s prenatal, labor, postpartum care. Even when I was younger I could recognize that she deserves much better care than she received. As I got older I knew I wanted to work in healthcare and be a provider who provides non-biased information, where my clients would feel supported, and welcomed. I value informed consent. I encourage my clients to ask questions, research, and advocate for themselves. I believe that no matter where someone chooses to birth (or even receive care for any matter) they deserve to be heard and cared for as a human with value.
In my free time I love being with my family! I was born and raised in Texas, so I have lots of Texas pride and love for the Texas adventures. I enjoy putzing around in the garden, going to the movies, and reading a good book.

My midwifery training

I completed my training with the Association of Texas Midwives, where I met Jess! As a student I apprenticed in both home birth and birth center settings. I am so glad I was able to observe so many styles of midwifery practice with such a vast range of clients. After completing my academic and clinical requirements I worked as a doula and then as a staff midwife in a busy local birth center. Over the course of my time in the birth world I have attended over 200 births for families in the Austin area.

A little about me

I have been interested, no obsessed, with pregnancy and passionate about supporting growing families for as long as I can remember. In fact my mom use to catch me reading What to Expect When You’re Expecting before we had even discussed the birds and the bees! Now years later as an adult I still have the same sense of wonder while caring for pregnant people and witnessing them birth their babes. In college I pursued a Bachelors of Public Health with the hopes of someday helping improve maternal and neonatal health outcomes. Soon after graduating I realized my heart was in midwifery, a holistic approach to pregnancy care, and began training to be a midwife. I found my passion in serving families by educating and caring for them during this transformative time. I want every family to feel safe and supported, no matter what choices they make regarding their care.

Now, I spend my free time listening to podcasts and reading books on women’s health and trying to keep up with my own babes. I am married to Reno, my very best friend and the most genuine person I know. We have two girls Mila and Lucy and live in Georgetown, Texas.

My midwifery training

I began midwifery school in 2016 with the Association of Texas Midwives Midwife Training Program. Over the course of four years I had the unique experience of training with over ten incredible midwives in both home birth and birth center settings. Over these years I was able to develop my own personal care philosophies while incorporating evidence based practices and a bit of each of my teachers unique approaches. During my training I attended over 200 births as a student midwife or birth assistant. I was the primary midwife, under supervision, for 30 families.

My lactation training

During my time as a midwifery student I was lucky enough to work closely with an amazing IBCLC mentor. Postpartum visits quickly became my most favorite part of caring for clients as I found a passion in helping families feed their babies. I have completed the Lactation Consultant Training Program from Lactation Education Resources. I have over 1000 hours of didactic lactation training and will take my IBCLC certification exam in the Fall.
